Privacy Policy

Introduction

At Sapientia, privacy is not just a feature—it's our foundation. This Privacy Policy explains how our desktop application and documentation website handle data. Unlike cloud-based AI services, Sapientia is designed to run entirely on your device with zero telemetry and no data transmission to external servers.

Core Privacy Principles

100% Local-First Architecture

All AI inference, data processing, and storage happen entirely on your device. Your conversations, documents, and workflows never leave your system.

Zero Telemetry

We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, or any telemetry data. We have no servers to send data to.

Complete Data Sovereignty

You retain full ownership and control over all your data. Chat history, memories, workflows, and settings are stored locally in your device's database.

Desktop Application Privacy

What Data Stays Local

  • All chat conversations and AI responses
  • Uploaded documents and their processed data
  • Workflow configurations and automation sequences
  • AI model settings and preferences
  • Application preferences and interface settings
  • Command history and outputs

Network Activity

Sapientia only connects to the internet when you choose to use these specific features:

  • AI Model Downloads: Downloading AI models directly from trusted sources
  • Real-Time Web Information: When you specifically request current information from the internet
  • Local API Server: Optional feature to connect Sapientia with other tools on your computer

External Services (Optional)

When you choose to use certain optional features, Sapientia may connect to:

  • Search Engines: When requesting real-time information, your search queries are sent to search providers (you decide when this happens)
  • Model Repositories: When downloading AI models, files are downloaded from trusted sources without transmitting any of your personal data

These external services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them if you use these features.

Documentation Website (This Site)

This documentation website may use analytics, or cookies to monitor your browsing behavior on this site.

Contact Forms

When you submit the enterprise contact form:

  • Information collected: Name, Email, Company Size, Message
  • Purpose: To respond to your inquiry about enterprise deployment
  • Storage: Emails are sent via SMTP to our support team; we do not store submissions in a database
  • Retention: Email correspondence is retained as long as necessary to address your inquiry

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, the security of your information depends on your device's built-in protection features, such as password locks, device encryption, and file permissions set by your operating system.

Sapientia is built with industry-standard security measures to protect your data within the application, ensuring that your information stays private and is only accessible to you.

Future Features

Planned: Device-to-Device Connection

We are developing a feature that will allow you to connect your Sapientia app on one device with another device you own (for example, connecting your Sapientia desktop to your Sapientia web client).

To make this connection possible, we may temporarily use a connection coordination service (called a "signaling server") to help your devices find and connect to each other over the internet. This service would only handle the initial connection setup—not your actual data or conversations.

Our Commitment:

  • We will ask for your explicit permission before enabling this feature
  • Only minimal connection data will transit through our servers (no chat content, documents, or personal information)
  • Once connected, your devices communicate directly with each other
  • You can disable this feature at any time in settings
  • This policy will be updated with full details before the feature launches

Your Rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

  • Access: All your data is accessible through the app or via file system
  • Export: Chat history and memories can be exported as JSON
  • Delete: Uninstalling the app removes all application data
  • Portability: Data files can be backed up and transferred between devices

Children's Privacy

Sapientia is not directed to children under 13. Since we do not collect any user data, we do not knowingly collect information from children. Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring their children's use of the application.

Transparency & Accountability

We are committed to being transparent about how Sapientia handles your data. This Privacy Policy reflects our dedication to your privacy and our local-first approach. If you have questions or concerns about our privacy practices, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Since Sapientia does not phone home, we cannot notify you of policy changes automatically. We recommend checking this page periodically.
